Despite a damp start to the day, our Autumn Show was blessed with a fine afternoon which attracted a great number of visitors. The show benches were crammed full of member’s exhibits of flowers, pot plants, vegetables, fruit and cookery and wine exhibits.  There were a number of people exhibiting for the first time, some returning to the show bench after a break and an excellent representation in the junior classes, both horticultural and cooking. The most closely contested class was, as usual the Mens’ Challenge in the cookery section, where a specified recipe resulted in such a wide variety of results!Another point of interest was a display from the Glebe School’s gardening club which also highlighted their achievements at the Ickenham Festival in the summer. The ‘tea team’ is under a new leader and visitors were able to socialise over some excellent refreshments. At close of show prizes were presented and the raffle drawn by the very elegant Lady Joyce Singleton Booth who is a keen gardener and local member of our Society. Margaret Mayes gained most points in the horticultural classes. The Aspro cup for the most points in the Dahlia classes was won by Ralph Hughes and the winners in the various other sections were as follows:
