ANOTHER EXCELLENT SHOW!
Almost 300 exhibits provided
a superb display with a great variety of daffodils greeting the many visitors who packed the hall all afternoon. We
were visited by a representative from The National Daffodil Society who remarked on the quality of the entries and said that
it was one of the very best daffodil displays he had seen this season.
In addition to numerous other horticultural classes, this show includes cookery and handicraft, all of which produced
some splendid and inventive contributions. Of particular note was the number of entries in the ‘Men’s Challenge’
cookery class which attracted no fewer than ten entries and was won by Cavin Higgins!
the exhibitors, we were gratified to see some new names as well as regular supporters and the ‘best in section’
winners were as follows:
|Pot Plants||Pamela Hendy|
|Junior Classes||Ben Cason|
Roger Trigg was also awarded the Daffodil Society Bronze Medal and the Bill Naylor Trophy for
Spring Bulbs, and Rosemary Murrell the Keith Briggs Millennium Bowl.
Glebe Junior School staged
an excellent display featuring the activities in their flourishing school Gardening Club and this was complemented by many
exhibits in our Junior competitive classes for handicraft, cookery and horticulture. The Best in Section
for Juniors went to a very creative miniature garden in a seed tray.
The Show ended with the
presentation of prizes by our Guest of Honour - Doug Neilson, Vice-Chair of the Ickenham Festival.
