Plant stall and Procession

Our busy plant stall on Gala Day

Our plant stall was a great success with the many customers buying a range of flower, herb and vegetable plants. Many thanks to all who helped on the day setting up and selling the plants. Thanks to everyone who brought plants to sell, and finally to all our customers.

Glebe Primary School procession entry

Glebe Primary School Gardening Club won first prize in the wheeled vehicle class for their entry in the procession. They had two wheelbarrows, one full of their own produce, and the other carried their 'Queen' scarecrow. The children and helpers dressed as insects, with quite a few donning bee costumes to highlight the plight of the British bee. Congratulations to them all, and a big thank you to Mrs Bannister and Mrs Cason for their hard work organising the entry.

Open Gardens and Allotments

Busy open garden

As in previous Ickenham Festivals, one of the most popular events was the Open Gardens. This year 22 gardens were open, many of them belonging to members of our society. As well as admiring the different styles and array of plants in the gardens, there were homemade cakes to enjoy, and the opportunity to donate to charities chosen by the garden owners.

Tranquil pond in another open garden

We look forward to the next Ickenham Festival and hope even more members will be inspired to open their gardens.

Glebe allotments in the evening sunshine

The Glebe allotments were open too, and on a beautiful sunny evening we were treated to tours of the allotments and  more homemade refreshments.
