Full of autumn colour

An amazing array of colour greeted visitors to the Ickenham and Swakeleys Horticultural Society Autumn Show at Ickenham Village Hall on Saturday 10th September.

Following judging, the prizes and awards were presented by the Worshipful, The Mayor of Hillingdon John Hensley who was accompanied by the Lady Mayoress – a keen gardener herself.

The Show organisers were delighted with the success of the Show and visitors thronged the Hall all afternoon, enjoying the beautiful, flowers, plants and superb array of vegetables that had been grown by members. Also being exhibited were some fabulous photographic exhibits as well as delicious cookery and wine entries. There was also great interest in the many varied Junior entries and great excitement with the final judging of our tallest sunflower competition which was won by Umika Upadhyaya aged 9 whose giant Sunflower reached 3.80m.

There was a lovely atmosphere in the Hall as the community joined together to enjoy the show with ever popular tea and homemade cakes.

Our raffle supported the Mayor's charities and we received lovely prizes from the generous local traders with raffle prizes.

Trophies for the overall winners throughout the year will be presented at the Society’s AGM in December, meanwhile here is a summary of ‘Best in Section’ certificate winners for this Show.
