Full of autumn colour

An amazing array of colour from more than 200 entries greeted visitors to the Ickenham and Swakeleys Horticultural Society Autumn Show at Ickenham Village Hall on Saturday 9th September.

Following judging, the prizes and awards were presented by Gavin Roberts, an allotment holder, Glebe parent, scout leader and an advocate of sustainable homes.

The Show organisers were delighted with the success of the Show and visitors thronged the Hall all afternoon, enjoying the beautiful, flowers, plants and superb array of vegetables that had been grown by members. Also being exhibited were some fabulous photographic exhibits as well as delicious cookery and wine entries. There was also great interest in the many varied Junior entries and great excitement with the final judging of our tallest sunflower competition which was won by Thomas Oakley. His sunflower was a massive 408cm !

There was a lovely atmosphere in the Hall as the community joined together to enjoy the show with ever popular tea and homemade cakes.

Trophies for the overall winners throughout the year will be presented at the Society’s AGM on 1st December, meanwhile here is a summary of ‘Best in Section’ certificate winners for this Show.
