Spring Show Saturday 8th April

Despite the recent very warm spell , causing our gardens to come into bloom much earlier this year, there was still an excellent array of daffodils, tulips, spring flowers, pot plants and vegetables on display for the many visitors to our Spring Show that took place at Ickenham village Hall on Saturday 8th April.

The many people who visited the Show throughout the afternoon were greeted with beautiful blooms alongside some amazing handicrafts and cookery and wine exhibits. There was also a photographic competition which boasted some amazing close up shots of flowers and plants,  as well as some exotic scenes from around the world.

The junior classes were also well supported with some very creative entries in horticulture, handicraft, cookery and photography. There were several new entrants who we were delighted to welcome, and Glebe Primary School  had a colourful poster display and a film, to update us on the progress of their new gardens.

Our VIP guest Glenda Greenfield, talked to us about her work with Hillingdon Council which includes organising the Hillingdon In Bloom competition. She also presented the prizes and the certificates of merit which were awarded as follows:

Daffodils                 Roger Trigg

Tulips                     Dennis Brownlie

Spring Flowers        Barbara Buckle

Pot Plants               Roger Trigg

Handicraft               Nigel Webster

Domestic                Doug Neilson

Men’s Challenge      Chris Lane

Wine                      Chris Lane

Junior Classes         Abigail Milne

With tea and homemade cake on offer too, the hall was crowded all afternoon and we were delighted with the show’s overall success.

The Autumn Show will be held on Saturday September 9th at Ickenham Village hall Swakeleys Road Ickenham.
